      The Pre- OP Nurse's primary function is to coordinate care for our patients utilizing the surgery department. Assists each patient with all the necessary steps prior to and with scheduling their procedure ( i.e. pre-op testing, finance/pre-authorization, medical clearance).     • Polysomnographic Trainee
      A Polysomnographic Trainee develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under direct supervision of a Polysomnographic Technician or a Polysomnographic Technologist. Job Responsibilities and Duties:- Verifies the medical order and protocol.- Completes and verifies documentation.- Explains the procedure and orients the patient to the Sleep Center. - Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning. - Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards. - Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals. - Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting. - Participates in equipment care and maintenance. - Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. - Follows procedural protocols (i.e. Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test) to ensure collection of appropriate data. - Follows lights out procedures to establish document baseline values (i.e. body position, respiratory, heart rate, etc.). - Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies and reports signal abnormalities. - Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. - Assists with appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention). - Follows lights on procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (i.e. repeats physiological and instrument calibrations, instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.).- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Education & Experience:High school diploma or GED. One year of post-secondary education or RPGST or RRT SDS preferred. Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on Polysomnography preferred. Current CPR or BCLS certification required, but can be obtained upon hire. This is an entry level position and training is available upon hire.Qualifications:Must be able demonstrate effective written and interpersonal communication skills; appropriate social skills, and the ability to follow directions. In addition, be self-motivated and willing to work as needed.
